Doctor Job In High Demand
One doctor job that is in high demand is that of a doctor’s assistant. This is a person who is able to practice medicine under a licensed physician’s supervision. They are able to practice under any medical or surgical specialist of their choosing.
The scope of this kind of a job includes practicing medicine under a licensed physician. Herein a physician’s assistant may obtain medical histories and records, perform basic examinations, diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications, interpret the results of medical testing or refer a patient to a specialist. As such, a physician’s assistant must be flexible.
This type of a doctor job is different from that of a licensed physician jobs. This is because a doctor’s assistant is not required have to have a license from any medical authority. Of course, it is up to the physician’s assistant to get such a license if they want to do so. In other words, it is optional. As such, some physician’s assistants will get a license while others will not. This is different from a physician who is required to get a medical license. If a physician’s assistant does decide to get a license, they can only do so through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physical Assistant (ARC-PA).
The future for doctor’s assistants looks good and strong. There are approximately 64,000 people with this type of a doctor job today. It is in the top 10 list of best jobs because the demand for doctor’s assistants is continually growing due to the need for more doctors as the baby-boomer population continues to age. Of course, these folks are also concerned about the cost of medical care and by receiving their health care from a doctor’s assistant, they are able to keep these costs in check.
It is not uncommon for a physician’s assistant to hold two or more jobs at once. There are actually some physician’s assistants who not only work with a supervising physician but they also work in another practice, such as another doctor’s office, a clinic or at a hospital. Of course, being able to hold more than one position does provide a lot more job security, which is of great importance to many people in today’s tough economical times.
If you would like to have this type of a doctor job, then you should know that the highest demand for your skills would be within the hospital setting. Of course, there are also still a lot of physician’s assistants who work in public health clinics, nursing homes, schools, prisons and home health care agencies. This really is a very versatile job and one that is definitely worth considering if you would like to have a doctor job.
